Many lives were lost and millions of resources wasted. I wish Downs could have elaborated his position on the US engaging in the war. Downs should have expressed his opinion after US high political cost that the US incurred. In addition, he should have explained other costs of the war besides the human resources cost. Why does Down not mention that the leadership of the US commanders and that of the US political leaders was questionable.

This is because there was no consensus between the leaders from both ends. Yet, it is popularly known that the difference between the leaders cost the US many soldiers and other resources.
