The reason why today’s businesses still thinks or measures women leaders differently from men is due to inherent gender based stereotyping. Gender stereotyping has the potential of limiting a woman’s ability or opportunity to advance to higher leadership positions.
These views further hinder and interfere with a woman’s success in business field. For the most part, this view portrays women as lacking the necessary abilities that are often associated with effective leadership. As long as we still uphold people like Jack Welch and Bill Gates rather than Meg Whitman as great business leaders of our times, we still have gender stereotypic ideas.
