Considering the mental condition of Norman Bates, we can concur that Norman Bates must have gone through a series of events that may have been highly traumatic for him and he may have chosen to ignore all or a part of the series of events and may have chosen to live in a state of denial in order to maintain the sanity that he thought he had. Whereas in reality, the extreme state of denial and the severe trauma of the ordeal through which he must have gone must have served to destroy his sanity completely.
