As is clear from the previous section of Chapter 4, the ratios of MCB Bank are clearly superior in general to the ratios of HBL with very few exceptions. If ratio analysis plays a role in the decision making behaviour of investors, then this should reflect in the stock prices. So in this case, the stock price movements of MCB Bank should move favourably to that of Habib Bank over the period in question.
The stock price and trading volume data for both MCB and HBL is collected from KSE and presented graphically in the following. The stock prices of MCB are collected for a period from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2008 whereas the stock prices of HBL are for a period from 24 September 2007 to 31 December 2008. The reason for the difference in the data collection date is because HBL was gained its enlisting on KSE in September 2007.
