The ethical considerations and value in social work are based upon principles to which workers are committed both personally and professionally. The basic value which defines social work however, is the preservation of human dignity and worth. This includes the pursuit of social justice, providing a service to your fellow man while maintaining a sense of truthfulness and professionalism.
Every country in the world has its own personal code of ethics which outlines these details and help workers in guiding their decisions in difficult situations. Personal values are also important which encompasses how people work. The ethical preservation of social values is one aspect of social work. Within these principles are guidelines which provide details of the responsibility of the individual to their clients, to other social workers, to their profession and the society at large (Munson, 2002).
