Freddie Mac is undoubtedly considered to be one of America’s biggest buyers of home mortgages. Around mid 2008, Freddie Mac announced developments in the form of changes in its managerial and organizational infrastructure (Financial Wire 2008). Positions such as those of the chief financial officer, chief business officer and senior vice president for government and industry relations were amongst those that were made part of the transformation. The changes being made are of such a drastic nature that the position of the Chief Financial Officer is being eliminated altogether and being replaced by the position of Chief Credit Officer.
Freddie Mac is a stockholder-owned corporation that was established by Congress in 1970 in order to make sure that that there was a means for the provision of liquidity, stability and affordability to the nation’s residential mortgage markets (Freddie Mac 2008). The organization works through the capital markets of the world to finance mortgages and has made the purchase of a home possible for one in every six home buyers (Freddie Mac 2008).
The changes being incorporated were stated to be motivated by a desire to allow the company to take advantage of business opportunities in the long term in order to remain a successful and thriving enterprise that can serve its clients better. The measure is also said to have come forth out of a desire to allow the organization to work better with the Federal Housing Finance Agency, its regulator and conservator (Freddie Mac 2008).
