Through the use of skilled Human Resources and installed systems which leads to obtaining data for the integration with the geosciences database for interpretation. Techniques that use radar data from the JERS and ERS satellites which observes the ground disregard of cloud condition or night hours. Another way of obtaining this vital data is through the use of an optical stereo which incorporates an oblique-view image from SPOT and a vertical-view image from TM.

Uses of data

The data that is obtained is used for various geological based purposes relative to the mapping landslide susceptibility mapping. For instance the relief perception and landforms stereo data are used to digitize the head scarps of debris flows and boundaries of the landslides. While the optical stereoscopic data is used to perform land-use classification of the ground, identify discontinuities and visually interpret the lithology. Moreover, exposures, drainage networks and quantitative geomorphological mapping[1] of the surface slope are facilitated by the extracted DEM[2]. Therefore this information that is obtained in relation to the geological sequences is the critical condition that adds up to the design parameter for production of a map of potential landslide susceptibility.

As a results of this information and uses, it is possible to determine a detailed methodology for landslide hazard and susceptibility mapping and design a graphically map representation of Landslide susceptibility map. For instance a GARS program of the upper Chicamocha Valley in Colombia has successfully produced a landslide susceptibility map at the scale of 1:50,000. Therefore this enhances society and all participating stakeholders to monitors the landslide patterns in the region.  Thus is a useful of saving world population.
