Information Technology has influenced work domains through the fact that it has allowed for the remodelling and customization of organizational aspects such as management approach, structures and individual job assignment. By doing so, Information Technology has direct implications on the manner in which group based tasks are performed in organizations (Jorgenson & Wessner, 2007).
This fact exists because Information Technology allows organizations to acquire, classify and process information at exceptionally rapid speeds and with exceptionally accurate outcomes. This integration of data allows organizations to make use of data that may otherwise appear to be of no significance. The data, once processed and translated into information through Information Technology, allows organizations to assess their performance as well as the outcomes of the performance. This assessment in turn allows organizations to redefine their line and staff authority designations in an attempt to reconstruct the organization to increase productivity.
