The HNEP program provided a total sum of $4.4 million across its eight partnerships. This money was to provide the partnership programs with funds to run their internal economic affairs. Having a good economic situation, the HNEP program used its funds to present awards to the students enrolled in the various fields.
The awards were looked upon as an avenue to provide motivation for the students and encourage even more of them to join this nursing program. This was important because this partnership programs were going to open up new paths for the aspiring registered nurses and as a result it would cement the relationship between the local community hospitals and the health-related institutions (2010, p.9).
