Sample Thesis Paper

Achilles finally can face to face with Hector who begun to run away from Achilles and a pursuit round the city of Troy ensued.  After going round the city of Troy three times, Hector is then persuaded by Deiphobus, who happens to be his much-loved brother, persuade Hector to stop and face Achilles face to face in a battle. Upon realizing that the battle is inevitable, Hector agrees to face Achilles in a battle while using his only weapon at hand, his sword.

At that point, Hector begs Achilles to treat his body with respect after killing him, however, Achilles rejects the request and tells Hector “my rage, my fury would drive me now to hack your flesh away and eat you raw — such agonies you have caused me” (Homer 56). He then kills Hector with a single blow and drags his body around the battled field for nine concurrent days. Further, Achilles celebrates the death of Patroclus and drags the dead body of Patroclus to the gates of the city of Troy.  After the death of Hector, his father, Priam, along with god Hermes requested Achilles to allow them to perform the funeral rites before burring Hector. The epic of Iliad ends with the funeral of Hector bringing the end of the Greek curse.
