The Sales to Employee ratio shows how much sales are being generated by an employee and is a strong indicator of employee productivity. The permanent employees are used as the denominator due to the inconsistencies and complexities faced by the researcher if incorporating temporary staff into the calculations.
The ratio for MCB has increased from Rupees Rs. 2,610.80 per employee in 2007 to Rs. 2,895.43 in 2008, which is an increase of 10.90% which means that MCB workers have become more productive in the year 2008 as compared to the previous year. In contrast HBL had a ratio of Rs. 3,117.40 per employee in 2007 which decreased to Rs. 2,357.39 in the following year. This is a decrease of 24.38% which shows that HBL employees have become less efficient than MCB permanent staff. MCB has a more favourable ratio to HBL in this case.
