The transformation of the world into an environmentally friendly alternative energy source remains a mirage nevertheless due to a variety of factors that en masse inhibit the realization of the ‘going green’ dream.
Between lax government oversight and massive lobbying and sabotage from key players in the ‘pollution industry,’ one cannot tell which one frustrates the solution of long-term mitigation efforts more. This trend is even more worrying in the United States a major proponent of the Kyoto Protocol yet they declined to ratify the treaty after urging the rest of the world to oblige. It is not clear what economic policy the US opted to follow or whether the failure was due to sheer ingenuity. Either way, America remains adamant on the matter in part because global warming remains a partisan political issue amongst Republicans on one hand and Democrats on the other.
