In 1993, Israel and Palestine signed the Oslo Peace Accord that served to master the growing violence between the two countries. This was known as Oslo 1.In 1995; the two countries again signed another peace agreement in Oslo, named Oslo 2. This second agreement divided the West Bank into three parts, meaning one section was fully controlled by the Palestinians.
These peace accords have however not fulfilled their purposes. The extent of violence between Palestine and Israel has escalated to a level that has not been seen before. More suicide attacks have taken place, and several times, Israel has invaded the Gaza Strip, the West Bank or Palestine itself. This has led to the death of thousands of people from both sides. The most recent event was when Israel attacked ships that were ferrying aid into the Gaza Strip.
